Why I have had multiple coaches, why I love coaching others and why I believe more people should take on an apprentice!

Coaching and Apprenticeships

Over the years I’ve worked with a number of coaches, for everything from finances, health and most importantly business. Always be learning, it’s an important mindset. To understand that we don’t alway know everything, or even more importantly, the realisation that how we are currently doing something may not be the best way moving forward. Just like a child, we often need people to guide, mentor and coach us to learn and master new skills.

Why I have a coach:

So a few years ago I started working with a coach. Someone who could help me find my focus, build my business and more importantly guide me to keeping the right mind set going forward. It started to work almost instantly. We changed the way we worked internally, we changed the way we worked with our clients and everyone involved started to see things in a different light.

Why did it have that effect? Well, for me I know it was because sometimes we can no longer see the wood from the trees. We know what we should be doing, but instead we’re procrastinating about how we could do it differently, what else we could be doing or we simply just go and do something completely irrelevant and unimportant.

This happens to all of us, but having that clarity and some accountability to someone else around you helps to keep always working in the right direction. We want to keep achieving and doing better (at least most of us do), but even though we know the way, we can often end up lost and not sure how to get back on track. Getting some coaching can be one of the best ways to do that.

Why I love coaching:

In 2014, my company Social INK started looking at the possibilities of starting a coaching division to the company. At first I was a little unsure about how the delivery would work, the technical side of it, but I knew the content inside and out. It was my job to, and by that point I already had 6 years experience of implementing what companies needed online.

So we set about creating an initial course. It was incredible. The guys on that first course loved it and started to see results from the course within 3 weeks. Positive feedback like that it is a huge motivator. It made me realise very quickly that helping others to build the skill sets, know how to use the tool set and most important master the mind set for success online was something I wanted to keep doing.

So as a company we did! We created new coaching programmes, new webinars, new content and started shooting short videos to be able to post out. Since then our mail list for coaching has grown more than 10X and continues to grow as we continue to deliver great training options for small business owners, as well as marketing professionals in bigger companies.

Why you should take on an apprentice!

If you follow our company on Social Media (Social INK – Digital Marketing) or have seen the Social INK Blog , you will know that we took on an apprentice back in April this year and we’ve been amazed to see what he’s achieved and how he continues to grow. There’s something about giving someone an opportunity to learn and develop new skills.

He’s getting better and better at writing blogs, design work, social media content and filming and editing videos. It’s been a pleasure to watch him create this content and more importantly to see his progression whilst he is doing it. Check out all his work by clicking here.

This isn’t the first person we’ve taken on in our company in this way. We’ve always believed in giving people a chance based on who they are not what their current skill level is. In the past we’ve had a young lady join us as a content writer and end up Head of Journalism for a magazine, we gave someone a chance to create video content for one of our sites and she became a floor manager at a major television network and one of our partners, who joined us with limited experience became the CTO of a major institution.

I’m humbled to have been a stepping stone in these people’s stories. It’s been such a pleasure to work along side them and it’s made me realise how much EVERYONE should give someone a chance and help them to develop. You never know what they will do with that one little chance you gave them!

If you are interested in taking on an apprentice, you can find out more from the great company we’ve been working with for nearly a year now, Tech City Stars and get in touch to start a journey that could change someone’s life forever!
