I thought I would start this new site with a blog article explaining a little bit about what it is I do for a living. I have been described in many ways and as a person I genuinely believe that I am one of the nice guys. Some people disagree… Close friends say “Chris, you’re Marmite, people either love you or hate you… there is no in between”.
So what can I say, I have come to terms with this, and to be honest, I realised years ago that it wasn’t really a popularity contest, it was about making money. When i first set up the company in 2008 i was actually young enough and naive enough to believe that I would get rich quickly and have a booming business within no time. You live and learn!
4 years later, the company has had its ups and downs, we have had no staff, 5 staff, back down to 3 staff… We have had next to no work followed by periods of too much work. But the one thing mistake I kept making, I would always end up being the Sales and Marketing company for XXX ltd or for XYZ.com. I never had the nerve to take the bull by the horns and create the website that I could then sell and market. Until 2011.
Since 2011, Gibraltar has never really been the same. Just Consulting Ltd (called Social INK since 2014), my company, has been hammering in to people the importance of the internet, online marketing and social networking seemingly to no avail. Gibraltar seems to be stuck in a bit of a time warp, where the impact of the internet hasn’t been felt… It sounds ridiculous, especially when we have one of the best Online Gaming Hub in Europe.

On the 11th of November 2011 (yep that’s right 11.11.11) we launched www.yourgibraltartv.com the first and only competitor to the national broadcaster here in Gibraltar. We created an online, news, events and TV channel free for public use.
Since starting, i am happy to say, 8 months later, in July 2012, we receive over 37,500 hits from over 24,000 uniques, 72% from Gibraltar, meaning 17,280 unique IP addresses from a population of under 30,000 people. In fact, the Government of Gibraltar released statistics recently, “there are approximately 12,000 family households in Gibraltar”.
We can’t complain and we are continuing to grow with the creation of more sites and the implementation of the Topanga Enterprises Ltd plan. Keep an eye out, give me your feedback and if you want to email me, please do [email protected].
