It’s been a while since I’ve written something for my personal website. Life gets busy, but the truth is I really wanted to share this. You see, a lot changes when you start to focus on your Most Important Goals (MIGs).

At the beginning of the year, I made some massive changes in my life. I changed the way I lived, ate and how I communicate (not only with others but also with myself). These changes impacted my life in some huge ways. One of the biggest changes was focusing on only my MIGs.

Most Important Goals (MIGs as I now refer to them):

Before I start any day, I focus on figuring what the 2 (maximum 3) Most Important Goals for the day are. My todo list has been transformed, especially as part of my work at my social media marketing agency.

Now don’t mistake this to mean that I do nothing other than those 2-3 things in the day, I also complete the everyday tasks that you have to do as an entrepreneur. I also focus on my clients and making sure they are getting the best from me, but, my focus is always on completing 2-3 things in that day, that will have the biggest and best impact on my business and my life.

These things are often ordinary things that you have on your to-do list, but the difference is, I know that EVERY day, I complete the MOST important things, that will have the BIGGEST impact on my life. When you look at these lists, they vary, they include things like finishing client projects all the way through to finishing VAT returns.

When you start to prioritise your to-do list, we realise how much is on there that just doesn’t need to be. When we look at what is truly important for our business, we know how little is necessary to accomplish GREAT things.

In the space of 6 months, I’ve become really good at focusing my attention on only the things that will grow my business, create new leads and make me better at what I do every day.

In that time I work about half the hours that I used to, I’ve managed to get rid of daily un-important tasks that simply don’t contribute in a meaningful way and I’ve increased the company’s revenue in a short period. This has all been in the space of 6 months, by using some hardcore prioritising. This technique transformed ME as well. I can work better, faster and more focused than ever before and in my personal life, I’m more in touch with what’s important to me than I ever know was possible.

Why not give it a try? For a couple of weeks just focus on the Most Important Goal that will impact your business in the greatest way possible. Only pick 2 things every day, and make sure that you give yourself no excuses whatsoever to not accomplish these Most Important Goals (MIGs).

Let me know how it works out for you, I’d love to get some feedback on how you find working with your MIGs and what you achieve.
