So I ended up spending about three and half weeks in Panama City after the Nomad Cruise experience. I moved around, from hotels to Airbnb in different parts. In this article, I just wanted to share my favourites, some inspiration and help you find a great place to eat in Panama City.

There’s a lot going on in Panama City and I was there for the football team to qualify for the World Cup for the first time ever. Then I experienced their national holiday week. Independence day from Colombia and then from Spain.

It’s a solid week at the beginning of November, that’s all about being out in the street, having a good time and incredible firework displays across the city skyline.

But anyway, the important thing in this article is…

Best place to eat in Panama City?

Taqueria Mordida de Burro

Place to eat in Panama City - Mordida del Burro
Amazing tacos, recommend the Micheladas and look for the secret bar…

So if you like tacos, I’d highly recommend this place. We ended up eating there a couple of times and even one day picking up a take away. Delicious food, great staff and the place is really quaint.

There’s something else to this place too, but I don’t want to give away too much. All I will say is, in the evening, pop to the back of the restaurant, and hit 6666 on the telephone booth, you might find a surprise.

Nomada Eatery

This little bar is aptly named for use “Digital Nomad” types and I’d recommend a stop off whilst you’re discovering the Casco Viejo (old town). The atmosphere is lively and the friendly staff make you feel at home.

You can take it easy to get some work done, the coffee is good, the food delicious. It’s definitely one place to eat in Panama City that will leave you feeling satisfied. I recommend the loaded nachos.

Mercado de Mariscos

The seafood market in Panama City has a great vibe and atmosphere. I’ve been for lunch and for dinner and both times the place has been packed with locals and tourists hanging out eating and drinking.

If you like your ceviche nice and fresh, you’ll want to check this out this place to eat in Panama City. Try to Pulpo Ceviche (Octopus) and the Corvina Ceviche (Seabass), both absolutely delicious.

El Porquettaro

Porquettera – Mixed plate of cured meats, roasted veg and fresh cheese

This place was an absolute gem. It was a bit hidden and if we hadn’t have found it online, we probably would never have gone there. It’s an Italian cafe, with their speciality being homemade pork products.

Cured meats, great cheese, a platter to share when you don’t know what you want to eat yet, it’s a great place to eat in Panama city.

Armonica Cafe

Amazing burgers in a really cool cafe… Recommend the spicy fries to go with.

This place has some unusual charm to it. As a place to eat in Panama City, it’s a great choice for a burger or some spicy chicken wings. But it’s as much about the food as it is about the place itself.

It’s like a graffiti cafe, with a wall on the outside of the venue where people have been allowed to use their artistic expression and the place even has a stock of spray cans to use.

Mentiritas Blancas

Avocado toast with fried eggs on top, and some home made chilli sauce. Perfect brunch.

This place became my favourite coffee shop and brunch spot in Panama City. I spent nearly a month hanging around in Panama. The important things for me are solid wifi, comfortable surroundings and then, of course, great coffee.

Mentiritas Blancas has all of these things and is a great place to eat in Panama City. I highly recommend for brunch the avocado toast with eggs on top, plus ask for their homemade chilli sauce, it’s incredible.
