Recently, I was re-reading Choose Yourself Stories by James Altucher. One story really stood out to me, Blog fearlessly.
We often stick to what we know. Especially when we’re blogging. We’ve been told that we should blog about our hobbies, our business or our industry.
But that doesn’t mean we have to stay in our safe zone.
Blogging fearlessly is all about putting yourself out there. For your business or personal blog, you’ll want to make sure your underlying theme is relevant.
But why not go against the grain every now and again?
We don’t have to blog safe. We can have opinions and voice them. By showing who we really are and what we really think.
It’s not going to be popular with everyone and hell, some people might even bash you online for it. But who cares?
The reality is, on your blog, just like in your life, not everyone will agree with you, and that’s ok!
If we can let go of trying to please everybody, we can keep creating what we really want.
My first blog of 2017, Why I Plan To Leave It All Behind me in 2017 was a bare-all explanation of what I had gone through with my business, Social INK. It was a particularly hard time and I had to fight to keep myself from drowning.
Blog fearlessly – don’t be scared to publish!
Recently, I’ve been helping someone work through a potential career change. I’m super proud of how much he’s giving to his goals.
He wants to change everything about his professional life, and once he had decided, there has been no stopping him.
The one thing that stands out, and we’ve chatted about this a LOT is this:
If you’re not willing to promote yourself, why should anyone else?
Putting yourself out there
No matter who you are, what skill level you are at right now, get involved. Get whatever it is that is inside you out! Get it out in videos, blogs, articles, photography, anything is better than nothing.
Too often we won’t publish something as we think about how other people will see us as a result. That’s an awful way to live and goes against every creative streak we can ever have in our lives.
So this year, I’m going to do more and I suggest you do too. For work, personal, what’s going on, what I’m struggling with and occasionally some wins. It’s all about putting yourself out there.
Remember, blog fearlessly, keep at it and who knows where it could lead at the end of the day.
